At the end of the summer I will teach 12 days in the new yoga school of Petri Räisänen in Portugal.

The days (or part of days) that you join you can choose yourself. As for the practice, there is a daily choice of Mysore Ashtanga or led-class Half Primary (both style of classes will be there daily). In the workshops we cover nice varied topics. The workshops are daily from 16.00 to 18.00. So, after the practice there is plenty of time to do your own things with friends or family. The yoga school is located near one of the most beautiful beaches in Portugal (Odeceixe Beach), the weather is generally still very nice at the end of September. Hiking, surfing, biking or going to the beach to relax are all possible. There are some wonderful hiking trails running through Odeceixe. Food, accommodation, transportation and flight you take care of yourself. The flight Rotterdam or Amsterdam to Faro takes only 3 hours. Car rental in Faro works very easily and is relatively cheap.

Costs:

The cost for the morning program is € 20 and for participation in the afternoon program you also pay € 20. So, in the morning you can join one of the asana practices and the preparatory practice for this € 20. In the afternoon you can also join the entire program from 16.00 to 18.00 for € 20.

After filling this in and sending it to me I will prepare a confirmation/invoice for you. In the invoice you will find a payment in two terms: the deposit amount of € 100 and the remaining amount to be before 6 August 2023.

Petri started to make a guide for the restaurants, bars, cafes and markets around Odeceixe (as I’m waiting for a bus in Lisbon). There are really many nice places. We haven’t try all of them, but most of the places which offer vegetarian / vegan options. Please give your own favorites to the list when you visit here..

Places to eat

We have a great number of restaurants and bars in Odeceixe and if you are exploring the area with a car, you will find much more. Here is my list and some recommendations for the yummy meals, coffees and chais. If you are a vegetarian, you can expect at least a mixed vegetarian soup in almost all the restaurants.

Odeceixe

Ao Largo restaurant (in the middle of the village square..used to be all vegetarian and still has a nice vegetarian and vegan dishes) The most popular among the yogis. Good music and relaxed environment.

Fruta Fresca cafe, bakery and gelateria (50 meters to the right from the shala ) A new modern place with few tables in the front and a new coffee machine.

Padaria Pasteleria bakery and cafe just behind the Yoga Shala. Popular among the local people.

Naperon..highly reviewed Michelin star restaurant close to the Odeceixe mill.

Chaparro Natura restaurant (advertising organic food and many Vege options but it hasn’t been open yet this year) 30 meters from the shala

Assador Altinha very romantic dinner place on the top of the hill. Has few vegetarian / vegan dishes. (1 km from the Odeceixe centre)

Chaparro restaurant, cafe and bakery (on the right side of the shala..few vegetarian meals, lots of fish)

Casa Verde a very traditional Odeceixe restaurant in the old house at the main square

Retiro do Adelino restaurant opposite the shala..few vegetarian meals and nice in er yard tables

Taberna do Gabão a traditional Odeceixe restaurant in the town. We had here our first meal in Odeceixe in 2018. Soup vegetables and bread : )

Pizzeria Central (local pizzeria in the middle of the village square)

Blue Sky restaurant (Next to Ao Largo..has few vegetarian dishes)

Dong Jing Chinese restaurant (in the middle of the village square..buffet has some vegetarian dishes)

Jasmeen Indian minimarket (has fruits, vegetables and Indian products)

ODX Music bar (between the town and Odeceixe beach about 1.5 km from the town) Live music, workshops and good vegetarian food. Great place to hang out and listen a good music.

Kiosk Agapito seaside restaurant

Esplanada do Mar supposed to have the best salads in Algarve

Ponta Branca has a great location and has some very yummy vegetarian dishes and slim French frites

Restaurante Dorita a popular fish restaurant with a nice view and shelter in the windy days.

Rogil (8 km from Odeceixe)

Gaia Vegetarian/Vegan restaurant, cafe and shop. Well made good quality and home taste.

Pizzeria D’Aldeia always full in the evenings

Batata Dose (sweet potato) museum has also a good restaurant

Pão de Rogil is a very modern looking cafe and bakery. Has a nice balcony. Nice place to have a cafe and bun.

Frutaria do Rogil has the best fruits and vegetables close to Odeceixe

Aljezur town (13 km from Odeceixe)

Moagem (Mo) vegetarian/vegan restaurant in old town. Very popular among yogis.

Roots cafe, vegetarian cafe on the main road in Aljezur

Tamrab Thai restaurant

Koyo cafe according some yogis has the best cafe in town

A Padaria a very nice small cafe and bakery has many vegetarian and vegan option and few tables outside by the main road

Arte Bianca pizzeria. This is the town restaurant. The other one is in Vale da Telha (below)

Aljezur (Vale da Telha 20 km from Odeceixe))

Arte Bianca pizzeria (we like this more than the one in the town, even it has the same pizza) Go early as it is always full. Open all day

Maxi’s Warung Thai & Indo food restaurant (very good one)

Gealateria Vicentina for the ice cream lovers

Sao Teotonio (13 km from Odeceixe)

Himalaya Nepalese restaurant (our favorite) with many vegetarian dishes and good Nepalese chai. We love it!

Many Nepalese and Indian shops and two other restaurants on the same street as Himalaya restaurant. It is the ”Nepalese town” in Sao Teotonio.

Odemira (25 km from Odeceixe)

Chocolate de Beatriz cafeteria (after the Odemira bridge on the right) Great place to hang out and have a yummy chocolate cafe or tea with a great view

Odemira has many restaurants and cafes and is a beautiful old town

A small market opposite the shala on Saturdays and Sundays

Aljezur market

On Saturday mornings from 7 till noon. Better to go early right after the practice.

Levante Lagos Market on Saturdays and some Sundays a great farmers market where you can find a great vegetables, fruits, nuts and spices. Has also organic section. Petri’s favorite market.

Azula, Sao Luis ”hippie” market

On the first Sunday of the month. All day. Don’t have to go to Goa, Goa is here! Miracle in the middle of nowhere.

Monchique ”gipsy” market

On the beautiful mountains once a month the ”hippies” gather in the old town to have fun and sell handicrafts.

Gealateria Vicentina for the ice cream lovers is on the main road of Aljezur, not in Vale da Telha.

Also the Bio market on the main road of Aljezur is a great shop where you can find a lots of organic products. We go there almost every week ????
